Trial Date Set…Clayton County Sheriff Elect Victor Hill Releases Case Documents
" ATLANTA (WAOK/AP)-Two days after winning a second term in office from Clayton County voters, a judge has set a date for Sheriff elect Victor Hill to go to trial to face a 37 count felony indictment.

Monday Nov. 26 is the date for Hill’s trial to start.

The charges, which range from racketeering to witness tampering, stem from Hill’s earlier term as sheriff. Hill has denied the allegations.

Hill’s defense lawyer Steve Frey tells The Clayton News Daily that he’s hopeful to get the charges dropped soon.

If Hill remains under indictment when he’s sworn into office Jan. 1, Gov. Nathan Deal could suspend his duties until the charges are resolved.

Once the trial date was announced Hill wasted no time in making public copies of the indictment papers and other documents related to the case.

The indictment of Hill played a major role in the rhetoric between Sheriff Kem Kimbrough and Hill during the campaign. Hill insists he is innocent of all charges and says he is confident the charges will be dropped. "
