Georgia State To Hold ‘Rock The Vote’

" ATLANTA (AP) — National voter registration group “Rock the Vote” is headed to Georgia State University.

The organization’s “Road Trip 2012″ will be on the Atlanta campus Friday at Hurt Park on Gilmer Street. The event lasts from noon until 4 p.m.

Laptop kiosks will help citizens register to vote and provide information about Georgia election laws. That includes identification requirements and polling locations. The event also features music, games and free swag for students.

Rock the Vote was founded 21 years ago to help engage younger voters. The effort has registered more than 5 million people. More than 2 million of those came in 2008, when members of the Millennial generation supported Barack Obama by overwhelming margins.

The goal this year is 1.5 million voters.

Rock the Vote does not endorse candidates.
