Faith Leaders To Hold Vigil On Alabama Immigration Law

" ENTERPRISE, Ala. (AP) — Faith leaders, activists and community members plan to gather in Alabama on Sunday to hold a vigil calling for the repeal of the state’s toughest-in-the-nation immigration law.

Musicians, dancers and singers are lined up to participate in the first event of its kind in Enterprise, Ala.

The Alabama law requires people to show proof of citizenship when making official transactions, such as applying for a driver’s license or a bank loan. The state Legislature is considering changes, such as removing a provision requiring police to ask for proof of citizenship during traffic stops.

The U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering whether to strike down or uphold a similar Arizona law. Justices on Wednesday strongly suggested they may allow Arizona to enforce its immigration law.
