Cynthia McKinney Running Again For Congressional Seat
" DECATUR – (WAOK/AJC)  – Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney wants her job back.  McKinney has filed papers to run for the 4th district seat,   under the Green Party ticket.

McKinney  served six terms in congress before she was first defeated by Denise Majette in the 2002 Democratic primary. McKinney was re-elected to the House in November 2004, following Majette’s unsuccessful run for Senate. McKinney was defeated again in 2006,  by Representative Hank Johnson who now holds the seat.

McKinney ran for president in 2008,  with the Green party backing.   She reportedly filed the proper paperwork earlier this month with the Federal Elections Commission to get her name on the ballot.  But she must collect more than 18-thousand signatures,  from registered voters in the newly redrawn 4th district,  by August 6th,  before her name can appear on the ballot.   The 55 year old former congresswoman has chosen not to comment on her reported candidacy.
