Wife Of Earl Graves Dies

WASHINGTON (AP) — She was involved in the publication of Black Enterprise magazine since it got started in 1970. And as wife of founder and publisher Earl G. Graves Senior, she held a number of positions with the company, including chief financial officer and circulation director. Barbara Kydd Graves has died. She had been fighting gall bladder cancer for more than three years when she died Friday at Howard University Hospital in D.C. She was 74. In a 2010 column Earl Graves wrote that in the early days of the magazine his wife “did just about everything there is to do” to get the publication to press. Her husband also says she had the unofficial title of “vice president in charge of shutting down the publisher’s bad ideas.” Funeral arrangements haven’t yet been announced. "
