Maze Percussionist Dies
" According to the AJC McKinley “Bug” Williams, longtime percussionist for the soul and R&B band Maze, has died of an apparent heart attack, according to Soultracks and other entertainment media outlets.

Williams was a lifelong friend of group leader Frankie Beverly and was there at the inception of the group when Beverly transitioned Maze  out of a group called the Butlers.

Williams, who was born in Philadelphia, died in Chattanooga on Friday, according to Soultracks .

According to the site, Williams wasn’t feeling well at practice for the Chattanooga concert and went to his room.

Someone noticed that he left his door opened and went in to check on him, but he was unresponsive. Williams was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.

“I’ve never played with anyone else,” Williams is quoted as saying on Maze’s website. “I’ve always wanted the same basic things that Frank wanted for the band and my attitude was ‘let’s take it to the max.’ "
