Beyond help from formal medical programs, parents around Atlanta can find enormous support sharing their experiences and advice. Now located about 25 miles north of Atlanta at the Chukkar Farm & Polo Club, the Dreampower Therapeutic Equestrian Center focuses on the natural empathy and rhythm of horses to help special needs youth. Therapeutic riding lessons are available from instructors accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.

According to their Facebook posts, the volunteer-run Camp Caglewood has weekend camping trips and day camps for children and adults with special needs. Campers on Caglewood Camping Trips either stay in a tent, which they will be able to help erect, or in a cabin depending on the season. Campers also help cook their meals and engage in activities under the supervision of staff, who number about one per two campers on any event. "
