
Gov. Nathan Deal said Monday that the state collected roughly $1.16 billion in taxes and fees during March, up from $1.11 billion last year. The Republican governor said that while there is still room for improvement, it’s a sign the economy is moving in the “right direction.”
Income tax collections were up 8.8 percent from the same period last year, while the sales and use tax was up about 3.7 percent.
State lawmakers recently passed a budget for the coming fiscal year that presumes Georgia’s economy will continue to grow. "
