Atlanta Symphony, Musicians Fail To Reach Contract
" ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) - The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and its musicians haven’t reached a new collective bargaining agreement, raising questions about the upcoming season.

Officials report that a weekend deadline passed with no deal involving the symphony and its 93 musicians. The previous contract between the orchestra and the Atlanta Federation of Musicians expired Aug. 25.

The full-time musicians feared that if a deal was not made, they would be locked out without pay and health benefits.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra officials said in a letter to musicians that they had no authority to continue benefits beyond Aug. 25.

Colin Williams, a spokesman for the musicians, said negotiations are ongoing and that both sides are continuing to work toward a solution. "
